ABSTRACT

Kallikrein preparation have already been accepted as therapeutic for male infertility. Especially oral Kallikrein therapy exerted a favorable effect on sperm motility in oligozoospermia and asthenozoospermia. We have carried out a Similar clinical examination of the effect of kallikrein taken orally 60 KU per day for 3-9 months, on the qualitative increase of motile spermatozoa in normogonadotropic infertile males with l0 idiopathic oligozoospermia (less than 20 x 10(6)/ml), 10 idiopathic asthenozoospermia (less then 20% of sperm motility) and 8 idiopathic asthenozoospermia entered the study as control placebo treatment group. Number of spermatozoa increased more than 30% of basic levels (over 30 x 10(6)/ml) in the 2 patient(20 %) and pregnancy occurred in the l patient (10%) out of the 10 patients with idiopathic oligozoospermia after the kallikrein therapy. In these 2 patients responded, the sperm concentration changed from 15.4 x 10(6)ml to 43.0 x 10(6)/ml. Sperm motility improved more than 20% in the 3 patients (30%) and pregnancy occurred in the 2 patients (20%) out of the 10 idiopathic asthenozoospermia after the therapy. In these 3 patients improved, the sperm motility changed from l3.2% to 43.5%. Sperm motility was increased only 1 patient (12.5%) out of the 8 placebo treatment control group and no pregnancy occurred to a side effect of kallikrein.

ABSTRACT

Malignant lymphoma of the testis is a rare disease and the most common testicular tumor in patients more than 60 years old. Malignant lymphoma of the testis is frequently confused with seminoma. In fact, only 30%, of patients in one series had disease-free intervals greater than 6 months postorchiectomy, and 90% of these parients died of generalized lymphoma within 2 years. We report a case of malignant lymphoma of the testis developed in a 55 years old man.

ABSTRACT

Leukemic infiltration of the testes has been relatively rare disease. Rut increased survival due to advance in the treatment of childhood leukemia has been associated with an increased in incidence of leukemic infiltration of the testes. Eight of 42 male children with acute lymphocytic leukemia who have been admitted to our hospital during past 9 years period, from January, 1975 to December, 1983, developed testicular leukemia. This represented an incidence of 19% and the median age was 6.8 years. All patient were symptom free despite testicular enlargement. The enlargement is bilateral in 4 and unilateral in 4. Microscopic finding on specimen were leukemic infiltration mainly in the interstitial spaces and atrophy of spermatogenic cells.

ABSTRACT

A clinical investigation was undertaken on Infertile males who seen our department during the period from 1978 to 1982. The results obtained sub as follows : 1. A total of 275 Infertile male corresponds to 1.8% of total male out-patients for the period of 5 years. 2. Numbers of Infertile male patients are increasing yearly. 3. Duration of infertile marital life ranged the mean being 3.8 years. It was 6.10% of the total infertile males that the patient had been visited psycho-dept because of neurosis(94%) 4. Susceptive etiological factors in the oligospermia, azoospermia are listed as follow : 1) epididymitis, 16.4% 2) cryptorchidism, 5.6% 3) Varicocele, 2.8% 4) Undetermined, 70.9% It was 35.9% of the total undetermined cases(l51 cases) that the past history of patient had suffered from prostatitis, urethritis. 6. Judging from the results of semen analysis(265 cases) is azoospermia was found in 21.5% oligospermia, in 58.5%, normospermia, in 20.0% 7. Findings of testicular biopsies of azoospermias(25 cases) showed that spermatogenic arrest was found in 32%, germ cell aplasia; in 24% hypospermatogenesis ; in 20% , peritubular or tubular fibrosis ; in 12%.

ABSTRACT

Authors experienced two cases of torsion of spermatic cord recently and reviewed the literatures. The patients were 12 and 20 years old with chief complaints of sudden onset on left scrotal swelling and testicular pain. Physical examination was not significant except positive Prehn's sign on the involving side of testicle. Under the diagnosis. of torsion of spermatic cord. One was performed of left orchiectomy and the opposite side orchiopexy. The other man was performed of both orchiopexy. We reported 2 cases with review of the literature.

ABSTRACT

For the study of the effects of aging on testis, the volumes of testis and Leydig cells, young and old aged rats were sacrificed. Twenty eight testes from the young aged rats were used as the normal control. Ten testes showing the atrophic changes and sixteen not-atrophied testes of the old rats were used. After measurements of the volume and weight of the testes they were fixed in Bouin's solution and their sections were stained by Masson's trichrome. The Leydig cells appearing at the graticuels attached to eye-piece of the light microscope were calculated under one hundred magnification. The findings were summarized as follow: 1. The atrophied testes showed degenerative changes in the seminiferous tubules and had the slightly increased amount of the interstitium in comparison with the control. 2. The weight and volume of the normal control testes were 1.24gm and 1.19ml, respectively, and the proportion and the volume of Leydig cells of it were 3.78% and 0.045ml, respectively. 3. The atrophied testis of the old aged rats showed decreased weight and volume, 0.41gm and 0.57ml, but the proportion of Leydig cells was 9.15%, and the volume of the Leydig cells 0.052ml. 4. The weight and volume of the not-atrophied testis of the old aged rats were 1.73gm and 1.71ml, respectively. The proportion and volume of Leydig cells, however, were 3.04% and 0.052ml.

ABSTRACT

There were 20 patients (22 kidneys) with staghorn calculi evaluated clinically (Clinical presentation, Complications, Management) and kidneys were studied on pathologic basis. Only 15 percent of the patients could be defined as having a silent stone calculus. Clinical complication occurred in 50 percent of the patients. On 7 kidneys submitted for a pathoanatomic study (nephrectomy) hydropy0nephrosis was found in 28.6 percent, end stage pyelonephritic kidney in 28.6 percent, end stage hydronephOsis 14.2 percent, severe pyelonephritis 28.6 percent. The kidney was considered to be relatively undamaged in 22.7 percent, of the cases. Complete removal of the calculus and appropriate medical adjunctive therapy should be done early in the course of the disease in an attempt to prevent complications and renal deterioration. The results of treatment are discussed and compared to those obtained in a group of patients who initially were managed conservatively.

The most common age group was 20-39 years (61.7%). 2. The site of lesion showed right to left ratio of 45.2% to 36.6% and bilateral in 19.2% of cases. 3. Most frequent symptoms were those of vesical symptoms such as frequency, hematuria, painful urination. 4. Tuberculosis in other combined with genitourinary tract tuberculosis were such as pulmonary tuberculosis (52%), tuberculous epididymitis (16%), pleurisy (12%), spine tuberculosis (8%). 5. Excretory urographic findings in 47 cases of renal tuberculosis were nonvisualization (44.7%), calyectasis (29.8%), delayed visualization (25.5%), moth eaten appearance (19.2%) and contracted bladder (12.8%). 6. Cystoscopic findings showed active lesions of cystitis in 11 cases, deformed ureteral orifice in 6 cases and mucosal ulceration in 4 cases. 7. Patients were managed by chemotherapy only in 55.3%, chemotherapy with nephrectomy in 34% and chemotherapy with reconstructive surgery 21.2%.

ABSTRACT

Primary tumors of the ureter are usually malignant and rare, a few are benign. Benign tumors arising from mesoderm are especially rare. But, recently the incidence rate was progressively increased due to developed methods of diagnostic procedures. We herein report a case of ureteral polyp in the left ureteropelvic junction with a brief review of literatures.

ABSTRACT

A clinical survey was made on 62 cases of traumatic urethral injury and stricture in the Department of Urology, Seoul Red Cross Hospital, during the period from January 1974 to December 1980. The following results were obtained: 1. The total number of in-patients during the period was estimated to 1120 and of which traumatic urethral injury and stricture were 62 cases of the 144 genitourinary injuries. 2. The most common causes of the urethral injury was traffic accident (45%) and next falling accident (40%), kicking in decreasing order. 3. Age distribution of urethral injury was the highest in the age 30 to 39 (45%) and next age 20 to 29 (39%). 4. Results from the present study show that the primary realignment procedure is more likely to complicate urethral stricture regardless the site of injury, compared with the perineal end-to-end anastomosis.
